ACM Air Charter
has now been awarded the second stage of the coveted IS-BAO
certification. The International Standard for Business Aircraft
Operations (IS-BAO) is compiled by the International Business Aviation
Council, IBAC, and its member associations.
ACM Air Charter
received its initial IS-BAO certification in March 2010 â the first
commercial airline in Germany to do so. And in January 2012, following a
successful second audit in which the effectiveness of the implemented
safety management system comes under particular scrutiny, it earned the
so-called âStage Twoâ status. The IS-BAO certificate is based on an
internationally recognized audit system to evaluate safety-related
operating processes and management systems. It is also recognized as an
industry standard by the European Committee for Standardization.
The
renewal of their Wyvern Wingman certification also underlines the high
quality and safety standards of ACM Air Charterâs flight operations and
maintenance services. The Wyvern Operating Standards have been developed
in cooperation with the Wyvern Customer Advisory Board, a panel
consisting of representatives from the most sophisticated and demanding
corporate flight departments in the world. ACM has been a
Wyvern-approved operator since 1996.

Embraer Defense and Security
signed an agreement last January 27 to acquire 30% of the shares
representing the capital of AIRHOLDING, SGPS, S.A., from the European
Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS).
The AIRHOLDING, SGPS, S.A. is a consortium formed in 2005 by Embraer and
EADS, incorporated in Portugal with the specific purpose of holding a
65% stake in OGMA. With this new agreement, Embraer takes full control
over AIRHOLDING stake, while the Portuguese government holds the
remaining 35% share through EMPORDEF â Portuguese Defense Company.
âThis is an additional investment in Portugal, in order to strengthen
the strategic partnership between Brazil and the European Union,â said
Luiz Carlos Aguiar, President of Embraer Defense and Security. The final
transfer should occur after the approval of the Portuguese competition
regulators within the next 30 to 90 business days.

Today, the Ipanema agricultural aircraft reached the significant
milestone of 1,200 units delivered. The success of this veteran airplane
has been proven, year after year, by its great operating results and
customer orders. In 2011, 58 of the aircraft were sold in Brazil and the
Mercosur region, for an increase of 45% over the previous year.
âThe evolution of the Ipanema, with its new technologies, has
transformed the airplane into a symbol of aviation sustainability,â said
Fábio Bertoldi Carretto, Embraerâs Ipanema Sales Manager. âThe
productâs reliability has been proven, throughout more than 40 years of
uninterrupted production. Studies are constantly made to improve the
aircraft, which is now powered by ethanol, focusing on customersâ needs
and the sustainability of agribusiness.â
The commemorative Ipanema is the 35th to be received by Sana Aviação
AgrÃcola Ltda, since 1977, when the company was founded. Sana is
headquartered in the city of Leme, in outstate São Paulo, and is the
largest operator of the model, with 12 currently flying.
âThe main advantages of the Ipanema, over land-based spraying machines,
are its lower operating cost, greater output, and less environmental
impact,â said Bruno Ricardo de Vasconcelos, owner Director of Sana Agro
Aérea Ltda. âThe airplane is very adequate for the needs of companies
like ours, which seek to offer customers a competitive edge in the
spraying business.â
The Ipanema is the first aircraft to be produced in series, in the world, that leaves the factory already certified to fly with ethanol (hydrous ethanol), which is the same fuel used in automobiles. This alternative source of renewable energy, derived from sugar cane, has reduced environmental impact and operating and maintenance costs, while improving the airplaneâs overall performance, thus making it an attractive agribusiness tool.
As the leader of Brazilâs agricultural aviation market, with about a 75% share, the Ipanema is used mainly for crop dusting, which avoids crops being crushed by machinery tires and makes the operation more flexible. It can also be used for fighting fires, seeding rivers with fish, and spraying pesticides to protect against insects and larvae.
